Endodontics deals with diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the dental pulp, pulp chamber, and canals. It alleviates pain and eliminates infection by removing the nerve from inside the tooth. Even though endodontics is often referred to as a root canal, the root itself does not get removed. The soft tissue from inside the structure gets removed.
If decay progresses to the first stage, a small filling will be required. If decay develops to the third stage depicted, root canal therapy will be required.
